The Intersection of Mental Health and Other Health Conditions that Affect the Puerto Rican / Latinx Community
This session will illustrate the impact of systemic issues on the mental health and wellbeing of the Puerto Rican and Latinx community and how these contribute to other health conditions and inequities.
10:45 AM to 11:15 AM
The State Of The Union On The Health Of Puerto Rican / Latinx Communities
This session will provide an update on federal, state, and local health policies to address health equities in the Puerto Rican and Latinx communities. An overview of the plans for Puerto Rico Town will also be discussed.
11:15 AM: LUNCH BREAK
12:00 PM to 1:30 PM - CONCURRENT SESSIONS
The concurrent sessions will present current issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Puerto Ricans and Latines. Speakers will discuss policies, workforce needs, innovative research, and preventive interventions for addressing. An emphasis is placed on linguistically appropriate and culturally responsive healthcare practices and behavioral health services. Participants can choose to attend a session from one of four tracks focused on promoting policy, capacity-building, research, and health promotion and wellness.

Capacity Building Track: Advancing Latine Health Equity through Promotores de Salud
Research Track: Implementing Culturally Responsive and Linguistically Appropriate Models for Latine Community Engagement in Research
Health Promotion & Wellness Track: Assessing Cognitive Functioning and Aging Latine Adults
1:45 PM to 3:15 PM - CONCURRENT SESSIONS
Policy Track: The Impact of Obesity on Latina Maternal-Child Health
Capacity Building Track: Building the Latine Health Professions Pipeline
Research Track: Ensuring Equitable Representation of Latine in Data
Health Promotion & Wellness Track: Addressing the Persistence of Type 2 Diabetes, Risk Factors and Related Conditions in the Latine Community
3:30 PM: Ensuring The Health & Safety Of Latines In Chicago
This session will highlight the status of Latinos in the City of Chicago, the efforts of the City of Chicago Department of Public of Health. Highlights will include how CDPH officials have partnered with the Latino community to diffuse timely messaging about risk factors and how to mitigate these to promote health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic and Monkeypox.

Enacting Actionable Policies for Hispanic/Latino Health
This session will introduce strategies for enacting effective health policy to promote healthier built environments and resources for the Hispanic/Latino community.
10:00 AM to 11:30 AM - ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS
This session will provide an opportunity for participants to engage in small group discussions around the topics presented throughout the program. Participants can choose one of the five roundtable discussion topics and contribute to the development of recommendations for next steps in addressing critical issues affecting the health and wellbeing of Puerto Ricans and Latines.
